History

Gazi University was founded in 1926 under the leadership of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, as the Secondary School of Teachers. In 1929, it became "Gazi Teachers Training School and Education Institute"; In 1947, it was transformed into "Gazi Education Institute" under the name “Gazi Teachers School and Education Institute". In 1980, with the decision of the Ministry of Education, it became “Gazi Higher Teachers Training School", providing 4-year education. In 1982, Gazi University was established and the name Gazi Teachers Training School was changed to Gazi Education Faculty and many faculties were opened in addition to this faculty. On the other hand, Faculty of Applied Sciences is the newest faculty established at Gazi University.

Under the Gazi University Rectorate; Upon the letter of the Ministry of National Education dated 5/2/2015 and numbered 1307727, according to the additional article 30 of the law dated 28/3/1983 and numbered 2809, the Council of Ministers decided to establish the faculty on 16/2/2015 and the same year was and the related decision was published in the official gazette numbered 29290 and the faculty was opened by completing the establishment process. Within the Faculty, the first Photonics department was opened with the decision of the Council of Higher Education dated 20.05.2020 and the undergraduate, graduate and doctorate level education activities will start in the academic year of 2021-2022. In our faculty, Management Information Systems Department was opened with the decision of Higher Education Board dated 18.12.2020 of the Higher Education Board. Education activities are planned to start in the 2021-2022 academic year. In addition to these departments, studies will continue in 2021 to open new departments within the faculty.
