In the meeting held at our Faculty within the scope of Research University Monitoring, Evaluation and Sustainability Meetings, the studies carried out in 8 months towards the 2023 target indicators were mentioned.

The meeting held at the Conference Hall of the Faculty of Applied Sciences under the chairmanship of Our Rector Prof. Dr. Musa Yıldız was attended by Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Ramazan Bayındır, Dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences Prof. Dr. Mehmet Çakmak, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences Dr. Başak Gök and faculty members attended.

Our Rector Prof. Dr. Musa Yıldız made the opening speech of the meeting. Prof. Dr. Musa Yıldız pointed out that there have been significant changes in higher education institutions in recent years and said: “International mobility in higher education has increased today and recognition of diplomas received from other countries has become extremely important. With quality studies coming to the fore in universities, the Higher Education Quality Board (YÖKAK) started its activities and universities were opened to external audit. The Council of Higher Education evaluates Gazi University, which is a research university, within the scope of Research University Performance Indicators and in line with the University Monitoring and Evaluation criteria. We are pleased that the momentum we have achieved as a result of the work carried out in this regard is reflected in various rankings and performance indices. Quality assessment and development studies were started in 2005 at our university in order to establish quality standards in higher education and ensure international compatibility in this field. Over the past 18 years, our University has gained important experiences. As a result of program accreditation studies, 29 undergraduate programs, 12 medical specialization programs and 1 preparatory program have been accredited today. I can say with great pleasure that our Quality Commission has begun to reap the benefits of its activities and work, which it has been carrying out effectively for a long time. Now, we continue our quality processes stronger with our newly established quality coordination, quality commission and unit quality teams.”

Emphasizing that Gazi University is one of the 3 state universities that succeeded in receiving 5-year full Institutional Accreditation among 30 higher education institutions in 2022, according to the evaluation of YÖKAK. Dr. Musa Yıldız said, “One of our biggest successes was our rise from the A3 category to the A2 category in the research universities rankings. "Our university is ranked not only by YÖKAK, YÖK and TÜBİTAK, but also by different international rating organizations around the world and in Turkey," he said.

Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Ramazan Bayındır, in his evaluation speech, emphasized which institutions the university provides data to. Prof. Dr. Bayındır: We are trying to provide data in “YÖK University Monitoring and Evaluation”, “Research Performance Indicators” and “Entrepreneurial and Innovative University Indices”. There are three different databases in total and data entry is provided. In the University Monitoring and Evaluation criteria, performance evaluations are made under five headings: education-training, research-development, internationalization, sustainability, community service and social responsibility. Within the scope of Research Performance Indicators, which is another title we emphasize, it is divided into three headings: research capacity, research quality and interactive cooperation, and in the Entrepreneurial and Innovative University Indexes, scientific and technological research activity, intellectual property pool, cooperation and enterprise, economic and social contribution. Evaluations are made under four headings: "We will share with you what we have done as an institution so far in line with the targets set under these headings and what we can do for sustainability in the future," he said.

After  Prof. Dr. Ramazan Bayındır, our Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Mehmet Çakmak also touched upon the targets achieved in the first 8 months of 2023 in the context of research and development studies carried out within the faculty. Prof. Dr. In his presentation, Mehmet Çakmak shared with the participants the data achieved on a faculty basis and the values that could not be achieved in the rates included in the 2023 target indicators. Following the speeches, Assoc. Dr. Certificates of appreciation were also given to the students who achieved first place under the leadership of Nihan Akın Sönmez.
